Zinc selenide(ZnSe) is an excellent Infrared optical window and substrate material with a transmission range of 0.5-15um, low dispersion, and not easy to deliquesce. It is very suitable for thermal imaging, FLIR and medical systems. Zinc selenide(ZnSe) window can be used as 10.6um CO2 laser window material and focusing lens material. ZnSe is the most commonly used medium and far infrared window material. It can be used as the carrier material for the 7-14um window band.

Because ZnSe has a low absorption coefficient and a high resistance of thermal expansion coefficient, it is usually used as a substrate material for reflectors and beam splitters in high-power CO2 laser systems. But because ZnSe window is relatively soft (Knoop hardness is 120) and easy to rub, it is not recommended for use in harsh environments. Pay attention to uniform force when holding and cleaning. It is best to wear gloves due to ZnSe is a toxic Substances.
