Yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) is a cubic crystal system crystal, It has excellent optical, thermal properties. Its mechanical properties and chemical stability are close to the sapphire(Al2O3) crystal, and doesn't have the sapphire's birefringence; The pure YAG crystal has a high transmittance in the 0.25~5 um region,  and has no absorption at 2-3 um, while the glass has a strong H2O absorption zone in this area. Therefore, undoped pure YAG crystal is a new type of substrate and window material for UV and infrared optical equipment, and the excellent physical and optical properties of YAG crystal make it an important application in high temperature and high energy physical environments.
